Cup Plant Blossoms Reach 2nd Floor!

Our wonderful prairie plant that is right in front of the Canopy Room window grows like crazy! The beautiful yellow blossoms can now be seen from Alice’s Room – upstairs – from the second floor window!

Waupaca Triathlon Lodging Here!

We love having triathletes here! Since we’ve lived here the “Tri” has been a very popular event! Athletes get up early and leave for South Park where the race begins at 7 a.m.  Instead of breakfast we have a brunch for when they return. It’s a great time to hear about their experiences and see their trophies! Because of some cancellations we still have rooms available. Whether or not you’re planning on attending the race we’d love to have you stay with us!

Iola Car Show This Weekend

We’ve got lots of guests who return each year for the Iola Car Show which draws people from all over the country. Folks have a great time! We look forward to visiting with those who are here and enjoy hearing their conversations over breakfast and in the evening… summer fun.

Happy 4th of July!

So much happening today in Waupaca – the parade this morning, chicken Bar-B-Q this afternoon and the Chain Skiers then fireworks this evening! Great to have wonderful guests enjoy the practically perfect weather here in a perfectly wonderful central Wisconsin!

We have some rooms available for Saturday night, by chance, and so we’re open to just a Saturday stay… give us a call or reserve online.

Happy summer to you!

Margaret Ashmun Day Celebrated

Last Saturday our Rural Historical Society celebrated Margaret Ashmun, an author, poet and educator born in Rural in 1875. Connie J. Haack-Hurlbut, whose doctoral dissertation was on Margaret Ashmun, presented for the 6th year in a row, an enlightening talk on Margaret Ashmun and read one of Ashmun’s poems. It was a delightful afternoon reflecting upon the life of an historic and influential Rural native. To learn more about Margaret Ashmun from one of her relatives see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Margaret_Ashmun

See Fireflies Here

For many seeing fireflies is a special sight. When we go out after dark they’re all over the place –  yard around the inn and tall grass prairie seen from the Little House on the Prairie. Even though we see them often it’s still a delight!

FREE FISHING THIS WEEKEND !

The Wisconsin DNR is sponsoring a statewide free fishing weekend June 7–8, 2014. Details here. Fish anywhere in Wisconsin without a license or trout stamp on Free Fishing Weekend. Fresh Asparagus for Breakfast

We served our asparagus just 10 minutes after picking it from our garden this morning – yum!

Our rhubarb is waste high and makes great bread and coffee cake and served that along with the vegetable and cheese omelette and asparagus – our guests said it was great!
