Guest Room Dedicated to Lois

Today is Lois Sorenson’s birthday and to honor her memory we’ve renamed the Attic Room, “Lois’ Attic Room.” She designed and decorated it. Of course Butch and his helpers built it but since her passing over a year ago we’ve been thinking of how natural it would be to have this room dedicated to her. We invited Butch, Charlie & Karen and Hugh & Karen, our neighbors directly across the road to dinner and a blessing ritual for the room.  Fletchers Jewelers in Waupaca made a new nameplate and keyring. Karen had called Sorenson’s daughter Sonja to ask Lois’ favorite flower and so she brought a bouquet of daffodils from her garden to grace the room. Phil Cianciola had done a 51 mile bike ride here last year and donated his LiveStrong bracelet in honor of Lois since they were such good friends. He and his wife always stay in that room. It feels good and right. We are grateful to Lois and her many contributions to this B&B and the community.

Our First Red-Headed Woodpecker!

We were thrilled to see a Red-Headed Woodpecker at the bird feeder outside our kitchen window yesterday and an Indigo Bunting today! Such colors! Such a delight! The Baltimore Orioles have been chowing down on the grape jelly and oranges we’ve been putting out each day so it’s been a daily treat to the eyes and ears.
